Random I-Tunes Song of The Moment: Billy Don't Be a Hero by Paper Lace

Fobulous Review

Two key fobs, one gimmick, two keys, 20 pages of written instruction, $60 bucks and one Fobulous Review. Is it gem or is it rubble? Stay tuned to find out.

Effect

In short, this is like a copper silver transpo with key fobs (key chains) instead of coins. Two key fobs (one with a red heart on it and one with a black star on it) are shown, examined and handled by the spectator. They are both placed in her hand. Your hands are 100% empty. You then cleanly place the heart in one of her hands and the star in the other. Close her hands, and reopen them, and the fobs have traded places.

Method

The method is super simple. It will require some practice, but the gimmick does most of the work for you. There's some sleight of hand involved, but it's very little and very easy. This is within the grasp of just about any skill level with a little bit of practice. The method, handling, psychology and gimmicks all work together in perfect harmony to create one of the most deceptive looking effects I've seen in a long time.

While I was working with the gimmick, there was one minor problem that I was having. A few paragraphs later, Steve explained exactly how to handle that problem, and it worked like a charm.

Ad Copy Integrity

Take a moment to read the ad copy. As impossible as it seems, it is 100% accurate. Pause and ponder that for a moment. As mentioned above, the handling is so well thought out that this impossible effect becomes possible.

Product Quality

The gimmicks are extremely well made and work just as explained in the instructions. They are the perfect size, easy to handle and smooth to "operate." The written instructions are very detailed, yet very clear and easy to follow. There are over 30 photographs, all of which are placed perfectly throughout the text at just the right places to give just the right clarification of the written text.

It's been a while since I've seen a product that is this well put together. Great attention to detail has obviously been shown in the gimmicks, the effect, the method, the teaching and everything else that is Fobulous.

Fobulous Review

Final Thoughts

If you're looking for a non-coin, non-card effect that fits in your pocket, then you'll be very happy with this. Just carry around the two key fobs and you're ready to go anytime and anywhere.

Fobulous Review Final Verdict:
5 Stars with a Stone Status of GEM!

Ad copy 100%, woot! Maybe someone’s been paying attention to your reviews!
    Keep it up.

  • Michael Bourret says:

Review is well done. I also have this effect and think it is a winner

  • Daniel Cochren says:

Hi Jeff. Great introduction! (Will they change if you hold them in your eyes, too???)

Overall, excellent review of what sounds to be an excellent product. %60.00 is a bit pricey (at least for me), but maybe Santa will bring me some Christmas dough, and if they accept coal, I’ll definitely be buying the product. Thanks for the great review.

    • Jeff Stone says:

@Daniel – Thanks for the feedback. The change isn’t a visual one, so the eye change ain’t happening. That would be super cool if it could though. 🙂

  • Dr. J. says:

Oh grandma, your earrings are just fahhhh-bulous!

I will stick to coins, but a great product indeed. Oh and the review was pretty good too! 😛

  • Alan says:

I see that you cant do coin work. Well I not very good with coins either. Maybe just the one behind the ear. lol
So I might need to take a second look at this. Any way good review bro.

    • Jeff Stone says:

@Alan – Thanks. I have a couple of coin effects that I do, but they’re super simple. Mainly Miser’s Nightmare and Dream Vacation. That’s about the extent of my work.

      • Alan says:

I am learning Miser’s Dream. I also bought Dream Vacation (Because I am a missionary in Mexico!lol). Let me say it is a good one. The only thing is I can not find the gimmick any where probably no one uses film any more. Any way I like it!

        • Jeff Stone says:

@Alan – Happy New Year! Thanks for getting Dream Vacation. The film canisters are still available at places like Walgreens and online, of course.

  • Jared DuBois says:

Jeff, I totally agree with your comments. I’ve added a small piece of Teflon to my gimmick and it works even better (the removal). It stays firmly in place yet makes the handling that much smoother (pardon the pun). Also, if you ask most a woman which symbol she prefers 95%+ will choose the heart. I use this to my advantage because I’ll place the “heart” into a second spectator’s hand (she of course thinks she’s holding the star), and then snap your fingers and say, “It’s done…you’re holding it!”. As you know, the reactions are way out of proportion to the work involved 🙂

    • Jeff Stone says:

@Jared – Thanks for the post. I love hearing real-world stories about the stuff I review. I just don’t have the time to test everything . . . which is why I rarely review the actual effect, just method, ad copy and product quality. Thanks!

  • Andy Pettifer says:

Here in Canada, I would love if the manufacturer could make the fobs as the red “Montreal Canadiens” logo and the blue “Toronto Maple Leafs” logo. This would have a already emotional connection and patter potential built into it for any guy you show it to. If Steve is reading this… it would be amazing, plus these fobs would be assumed by any spectator to be ordinary/common objects.

    • Jeff Stone says:

@Andy – Happy New Year. Thanks for the feedback. That is a great idea. I’m not sure what’s involved, legally, to do something like that, but either way, I’ll let Steve know.
