Random I-Tunes Song of The Moment: With Arms Wide Open by Creed

A Trip to Cancun by George Iglesias Review

One bikini, one grass skirt, one photo/poster gimmick, one hour of streaming video instructions and $85 bucks. Is it Gem or is it Rubble? Stay tuned to find out.

Effect

You claim that you've made a selected card vanish and reappear in a tropical place (e.g., Cancun, Hawaii, etc.). You then show a 22 inch by 14 inch poster of a bikini-clad/grass-skirt wearing woman "holding" a card in her bikini top. You fold the poster in half and have the spectator reach into the folded poster and he finds an actual grass skirt. When the poster is opened again, the woman is now wearing only a bikini and no grass skirt.

Repeat . . . this time the spectator pulls out a bikini top. The poster is reopened and she's missing her bikini top, but she's "covered" with two coconut drinks.

Repeat . . . this time the bikini bottom is removed from the poster by the spectator. Attached to the bikini bottom is the signed card.

When you reopen the poster, this time, she's fully nude, but standing in front of her blocking the view is her muscle-head boyfriend.

I'm sure you can see the comedy potential, and it's relative tastefully done. It's not in your face. I wouldn't call it family-friendly necessarily, but it still is "clean" enough that it would be appropriate for most audiences as long as you don't play it like a pervert.

It's arguably less offensive than the Baffling Bra effect that used to be all the rage.

Method

In your package, you receive an actual bikini (top and bottom) and an actual grass skirt. Along with that you receive the gimmicked poster set. You just have to set the poster set up in advance and it's pretty much self-working. The only part that's not self-working is the playing card stuff. You'll need palming skills. Or if you don't use the signed-card version, then you'll need to be able to force a card. Also in the non-signed version, you're taught how to make a gimmick that will cause the card to appear to have vanished from the deck.

The method is very simple for the most part, and is very practical for sure. You'll need to practice working the gimmick and getting the timing right, but it's all very easy and totally doable.

Ad Copy Integrity

The ad copy is extremely open and honest. In fact, the entire method is basically right out in the open for you. I applaud Twisted Magic's transparency . . . a rare thing in our line of work. "A plus" on the ad copy.

Product Quality

The gimmick is very well made and easy to operate. The photos are professionally produced vinyl (or similar) material. The bikini and grass skirt are clearly very "costume shopy" and not human-sized, but they get the job done and will last a long time if you take care of them. You also receive a website to access the 1 hour long training video. It's well (enough) made and covers everything in excellent detail.

Final Thoughts

Though I would, likely, never do this effect, I cannot deny the quality of the product and its accuracy in advertising and ease of execution. I also feel that it's reasonably priced considering all that comes with it and the fact that in the hands of the right performer, this can be a seriously fun, entertaining and memorable effect. If you can see yourself performing this effect, you won't regret your purchase.

Final Verdict:
4.5 Stars with a Stone Status of Gem.
