Random I-Tunes Song of The Moment: Breadfan by Metallica

Upgrade by Danny Weiser Review

One DVD, one gimmick, Big Blind Media and $27 bucks. Is it gem or is it rubble? Stay tuned to find out.

Effect

Many effects are possible, but the main concept is that a fan of two cards are held at your fingertips and the spectator's fingertips. In the blink of an eye, one of the cards in the two-card fan changes into a signed card (or a blank card, or another card, etc.) while still in the spectator's fingertips.

Method

A very clever gimmick makes all this possible. If you can handle a deck of cards, you can do this effect. The method is nearly automatic. The gimmick does 99% of the work. It's the kind of gimmick that will wear out over time, but Danny Weiser shows you how to make more gimmicks, and you are supplied with the "stuff" to make them. There's one small consideration, but nothing serious.

Based on the way he handles the cards, I believe Danny Weiser is left handed. That being the case, there are a couple of places where loading and/or handling the gimmick is a little bit different. Due to the fact that a lefty holds the deck in his right hand, the gimmick is a little more accessible. However, for a righty, you can't quite load the gimmick the way Weiser does. But it only took me a couple of minutes fiddling around to figure out a simple and clean way to load the gimmick.

It's nothing to stop me from recommending the product, but it is something you'll need to be aware of when you use the gimmick. Other than that, the method is super solid and very doable for any skill level and is very practical.

Ad Copy Integrity

The ad copy was dead on. The footage shown in the video trailer was honest and accurate. The written ad copy is also accurate. Thank you Big Blind Media and Danny Weiser.

Product Quality

The DVD is well produced - typical BBM. There are several ideas and effects shown on the DVD. Plus you're taught how to make other variations of the gimmick to create a variety of effects. The gimmick itself is well made and will last several performances. Weiser suggests possibly replacing it after every hundred (ish) uses. Based on the quality of the gimmick, I would agree with that.

Since you're given the stuff and taught how to make more gimmicks, plus you get one already made, this is a solid value for only $27 bucks.

Final Thoughts

The gimmick is entirely self-contained and can just sit in your deck or card box until you need it. If you like what you saw in the trailer, you'll be very happy with your purchase. What you see is what it looks like, and it's very easy and practical to ring in and out of play. Method: Awesome. Check. Ad Copy: Totally accurate. Check. Product Quality: Killer. Check.

Final Verdict:
5 Stars with a Stone Status of GEM!
