Random I-Tunes Song of The Moment: Stairway to Heaven by The Hit Crew

Light Speed by Perseus Arkomanis Review:

Over a dozen effects, practice drills, an easy to use sleeving technique and $35 bucks. Is it gem or is it rubble? Stay tuned to find out.

Effect

Vanishes, appearances, transformations, transpositions and more, with coins and other smallish objects.

Method

As it says in the ad copy, this is a sleeving technique. It's also referred to as the "ultimate" sleeving technique. The word "ultimate" literally means "last" as in "last item on a list." This technique is super old and others have been added to the "list" since then. However, it just might be the last method you'll ever need to learn; so in that sense, it may very well be the "ultimate" technique.

It's very easy to execute and is very deceptive. Keep in mind, however, that Arkomanis has added other classic sleights and techniques to the handling of his routines, thus allowing you to do some very powerful and visual magic. This is not for the faint of heart. It requires some serious practice and dedication. However, you don't have to use his complete routines and methods.

In fact, take his sleeving technique and add it to your existing coin work and you'll see how much more powerful your magic becomes.

Ad Copy Integrity

The ad copy (as is typical with Alakazam products) is open, honest and transparent. They even tell you that it's a sleeving DVD. I tip my hat to Mr. Nardi and the gang at Alakazam.

Product Quality

Again, as is usual for Alakazam, the product is top quality. Production quality is excellent, and the teaching was in depth and well presented. He gives us practice drills on how to get better and faster at using this technique. He covers angles, hand positioning and so much more.

Final Thoughts

When you have guys like Rocco and Carl Cloutier singing the praises of a sleeving DVD, you need to take notice. Further, as stated on the back of the DVD, "if you really want to take your magic to a whole new level you better start sleeving stuff!" This is true. Look at guys like Slydini, who used his lap to great advantage - lapping is the seated equivalent of sleeving - his magic was very powerful and looked real. Rocco, Cloutier and Arkomanis are the stand up versions of Slydini when it comes to how visual their magic looks; all thanks to sleeving.

Finally, one big and important point: this is not just for coin manipulation acts. In fact, he covers a handling for performing Confabulation that allows your prediction to be written with a completely different type of pen from the one used to write down the information in front of the audience. If you know Confabulation, you know how much more powerful this makes the routine.

Whether you're a sleever or not, this DVD will get you thinking about how to take your magic to the next level.

Final Verdict:
5 Stars with a Stone Status of GEM!
