Random I-Tunes Song of the Moment:Stairway to Heaven (Live) By Rodrigo y Gabriela

Man if you want some seriously killer acoustic Spanish guitar . . . Look no further than Rodrigo y Gabriela! If you want over 3 hours of killer new close up magic, look no further than Jay Sankey's Kaleidoscope.

But First . . .

Pre-Review 'Disclosure'/'Disclaimer':

Ok many of you probably know that Jay Sankey and I are good friends and that we've worked together on a project or two in the past, and we also are consultants to one another.

I get feedback from him on my stuff, and he gets feedback from me on a lot of his stuff. Additionally, I do not receive any sort of compensation whatsoever for reviewing or 'pitching' his products (I was involved in this project quite a bit. I offered my help in crediting, history, alternate handlings, feedback on every effect that was planning on being in the video . . . some were left out based on my recommendation).

I tell you that up front just to sort of clear the air and to let you know that when I give Jay feedback, I'm brutally honest with him. I tell him if I think he has a crappy idea or a good idea. He wouldn't have it any other way, nor would I. So I want to make it clear that Jay's products get the same level of scrutiny as any other products I review.

On To The Review:

Jay really brings some killer material on this DVD. This material is as amazing as Rodrigo Y Gabriela. Some of the material is so visual that it looks like real magic.

Imagine burning a match. Then you blow it out. Then you magically and as visually as you can imagine drag the burn mark from the head to the center of the match. In a similar fashion, drag the sharpened lead point of a pencil down the shaft and to the center of the pencil

The production quality of this one is very cool. The DVD and Casing have absolutely no branding or labels or words whatsoever . . . just a cool image of a Kaleidoscope. The music and editing on this project is funky fresh as well - I keep telling my kids that I'm hip, but they don't believe me.

There's a clever 2 card transpo that's a bit freaky and in the spectator's hands. You get Jay's take on card in ice block. You get his super smooth punctured and restored sugar packet, his super clean one coin vanish; compress sugar into a sugar cube; transfixed . . . one of THE MOST VISUAL torn and restored cards ever. Or how 'bout this . . . grab a piece of ice from the ice bowl and shove it through the bottom of an unbroken plastic water bottle. Should I go on?

Although $35 is a little steep, consider the fact that you're getting over 3 hours of material. Compare that to Regal's one trick wonder, Red Streamlined Convertible where you get an ace assembly and nothing else for $25.00 bucks. Trust me folks . . . this is a must have for your library and your repertoire . . .

Final Verdict:
4.5 Stars with a Stone Status of GEM!
