Random I-Tunes Song of The Moment: The Clairvoyant by Iron Maiden

Duo by Rian Lehman Review:

Two gimmicks, one DVD and $20 bucks. Is it gem or is it rubble? Stay tuned to find out.

Effect

Appearances and vanishes of coins, matrix style. This is more of a utility than it is an effect. You can add this utility to your matrix/card-coin work.

Method

Two gimmicks and some very simple handling make this all possible. The gimmicks are simple to use and very deceptive and they handle beautifully. This is not beginner stuff, but certainly intermediate level and above.

One gimmick allows you to have any two cards selected from a deck and placed on the table where a coin magically appears under each. The cards that the coins appear under are 100% examinable and so are the coins. The second gimmick allows you to cause coins to vanish and reappear.

The only minor issue I had with some of the methods used, was that when you had one coin vanish from under a card, to cause it to reappear under a different card, you had to move the first card (the one it vanished from) over to the other card and slide it underneath the card where the coin is about to reappear. However, there are other techniques and effects where that is not needed, so it's a minor concern.

Ad Copy Integrity

The ad copy is solid. It's 100% accurate. This is one of the cleanest gimmicks for this type of effect that I've seen. It's super easy to load and unload the coins.

Product Quality

Not only are the supplied gimmicks well made, but you're taught on the DVD how to make your own. They're super easy to make, and they were taught better than most DVDs. Typically when you have to do a minor arts and crafts project with some playing cards, the instructional DVD is not as clear as it could be. In this DVD, however, they took the time to freeze frame and outline with bold marks, the exact places that need to be cut, glued, etc. It was crystal clear.

The DVD was easy to navigate and well produced, lit, mic'd, etc.

Final Thoughts

When you consider that you get two gimmicks, plus a DVD all for only $20 bucks, it's darn near impossible to give this a bad rating. If you're into coin/card matrix style routines - I'm not - you'll absolutely love what you're getting, especially for the price.

Final Verdict:
5 Stars with a Stone Status of GEM!

This looks like a winner to me. I’ve always like “Giant Killer Coin” from one of the A of A books and Danny Garcias “Shade” effect, I think this could take either of those to a whole other lever.
